Polish Water

bottled drink, video, audio, website, distribution process, 2016 - 2017

The main idea was to produce and distribute a certain kind of bottled drink. The first edition was made during
a residency stay in Kulturfabrik Burgdorf, Switzerland. Water, taken from Swiss source, was subjected
to a process of symbolic transformation. Sound fragments of an assimilation course were used during
the production process to teach the water Polish language. The audio was enchanced using alfa waves sound
as a background - it should make learning process easier and more affective on the water. The final, „polonized” product, closed in a plastic bottles, with special branding stickers, was distributed during the cultural events and among the local shops in Switzerland.

Polish Water reveals the liquid aspect of national identity. It poses the question of both definition and development of one’s very own sense of belonging. It refers also to one of the most basic provision offered
to refugees during their peregrination.

More than 70 percent of Earth’s surface is covered with water. It circulates constantly. The same percentage
of water can be found in a human body. Polish Water is a free of charge product.
